Ground-floor CGI sliders near saltwater see a particular problem: the stainless track cap gets fine scratches, those scratches hold salt, and the track develops high spots that make the panel feel like it’s stepping over speed bumps. Fix: we don’t tell you to live with it. We replace the track cap, level the run, and clean the drain channels so water moves out instead of pooling.
- Worn header guides on oversized panels, especially on the Estate series. When a slider panel is wide enough that it sits in a header guide, that guide does real work. Once the nylon guide block wears down, the panel can rack slightly and start rubbing the side jamb. We’ve walked into Miami homes where the homeowner thought the slab had settled. It was a fifteen-dollar guide block. Fix: replace the block, shim the header, and re-check the reveal. No settling was ever involved.
