Once the rail bows, air leaks past the weatherstripping and the window stops sealing. We either reset and shim the frame to true, or rebuild the sash if the extrusion has permanently deformed.
• Worn interlock weatherstripping on horizontal roller windows. PGT horizontal rollers are common in mid-century Miami homes, and the interlock is where the two sashes meet in the middle. That pile weatherstripping compresses over time, and once it flattens, conditioned air slips out between the sashes. It’s a small part and a fast fix, but we run into homeowners who’ve lived with a drafty window for years because no one identified the interlock as the leak point.
• Weep drainage issues on PGT impact windows installed by crews that didn’t slope the sill correctly.
