Therma-Tru Custom & Geometric Windows in Miami: What to Know First

We are an independent Therma-Tru service provider in Miami, not a Therma-Tru authorized dealer, and we repair, replace, and install custom and geometric Therma-Tru windows across Miami-Dade County. Our turnaround on a standard custom geometric window job runs two to four weeks from template to install, and pricing sits at the honest middle of the Miami market: not the cheapest bid you will find, and not the number a franchise salesperson throws at you after a two-hour presentation. If you own a Therma-Tru arched, radius, or shaped window that is fogged, leaking, or simply worn past its years, this page tells you what actually goes wrong with these units in a Miami climate, what it costs to make them right, and how we do the work. Call (754) 238-2201 to talk through your specific window.

How Therma-Tru Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Therma-Tru built its name on fiberglass entry doors, but plenty of Miami homes also carry their window lines, particularly the Vented Series and the less common All-Glass Series. Geometric and custom shapes on these units rarely fail in the extrusion or the glass itself. What typically goes wrong is the seal, the sash integration, or the flashing. Here is what we see, in order of frequency.

  • Radius and arch units losing their seal along the curved bottom rail. On Therma-Tru Vented Series radius windows, the bottom rail on an arch or eyebrow is fabricated by bending a straight extrusion to the curve. Over years of Miami sun and rain, the sealant bond between the bent rail and the glass relaxes at the two lowest points of the curve. You will see condensation inside the glass or a faint white chalk line along the bottom edge. The fix is not a caulk bead on the outside; the sash has to come out, the old sealant cut back to clean glass, and the unit re-bonded with a marine-grade structural sealant rated for Miami UV exposure. We have done enough of these to know that a surface caulk job buys you one wet season, maybe two.
  • Geometric picture window frames pulling at the miter joints. On oversized Therma-Tru All-Glass Series picture windows, particularly trapezoids and octagons over front entries, the frame corners are joined by miter with a mechanical fastener and sealant. Miami’s daily thermal swing - hot afternoon sun, quick evening cool - works those miters every single day. After fifteen or twenty years, the corner opens a hair, and water finds it. We pull the unit, re-square the frame on a bench, install new corner keys where Therma-Tru’s original design allows, and reset the window with proper flashing. The joint itself is repairable; the damaged drywall and sill underneath is usually the costlier half of the job.
  • Sash-to-frame misalignment on custom radius double-hungs. Therma-Tru’s Vented Series radius double-hungs are less common in Miami than fixed units, but when they fail, it is almost always the sash dropping out of plane with the frame. The counterbalance system wears unevenly on curved sashes, and the sash begins to bind at the curved upper corners. We rebuild the balance assembly, re-shim the frame at the hinge points, and the window opens like it should. The alternative - a new custom-radius double-hung - costs four to six times what the rebuild costs.
  • Flashing failures at the installation level, not the window level. We replace a fair number of Therma-Tru geometric windows that were never leaking because of Therma-Tru’s manufacturing. They leaked because the original installer set the window in the rough opening, nailed the fin, and called it a day. In Miami, where wind-driven rain comes at windows sideways, the pan flashing and sill pan matter as much as the window itself. On every Therma-Tru custom job, we pull the old unit, inspect the rough opening for rotted wood, install a sill pan, lap the flashing correctly, and only then set the new window. Therma-Tru’s own installation specs call for this; a surprising number of Miami installs skip it entirely.
  • Glass breakage in high-stress geometric shapes from improper glazing compression. Odd-shaped Therma-Tru units - half-rounds, quarter-rounds, gothic arches - put uneven pressure on the glass if the glazing bead is over-tightened at the points and under-tightened at the flats. Cracked glass in a geometric Therm-Tru window is often not an impact break; it is compressive stress from the original glazing. We glass these units in-house with the proper setting blocks and compression spacing, and the replacement panel typically outlasts the original.

Our Therma-Tru Custom & Geometric Windows Process

Every Therma-Tru job follows the same method. We built it over decades, and it keeps us from guessing.

  1. 1
Call and opening inspection. You call (754) 238-2201. A live person answers. We schedule a visit. We measure every opening twice - Dale Kessler’s rule is the same one his father taught him: measure it right the first time, or plan on coming back. We do not order a single custom Therma-Tru unit off one measurement.
  2. 2
Diagnosis and honest recommendation. We assess whether the existing window is worth repairing or needs full replacement. If the sash is sound and the glass is intact, we say so. If the frame is water-damaged or the seal has failed beyond re-bonding, we tell you that too, and we show you why on paper.
  3. 3
Parts decision: OEM versus quality aftermarket. Therma-Tru OEM parts for older geometric lines are not always available. We source OEM when it is in stock and makes sense, and we use proven aftermarket equivalents - weatherstripping, glazing bead, balance assemblies - when OEM is discontinued or backordered by six months. We will tell you which one you are getting and why, in writing.
  4. 4
The work. For replacements, we template the opening, order the unit, and install with full flashing detail. For repairs, we do the bench work and the re-install in one visit whenever possible. Uniformed, background-checked technicians handle everything; the same crew that starts the job finishes it.
  5. 5
Testing and documentation. Every Therma-Tru window gets operated start to finish, water-tested where appropriate, and inspected against The Keystone Standard. Both warranty layers are registered in writing, with durations stated, before our truck leaves your driveway.
  6. 6
The Done Right Promise. If it is not done right, we make it right. No paperwork fights, no arguing, no fine print that covers neither.

What Therma-Tru Custom & Geometric Windows Costs in Miami

Miami pricing on Therma-Tru custom and geometric windows is not a secret, and we do not treat it like one. The numbers below reflect what we see across Miami-Dade, including Coral Gables, Kendall, Palmetto Bay, and Pinecrest.

  • Re-seal and re-bond a curved bottom rail on one radius window: $280 to $520, depending on glass size and how much of the old sealant has to come out.
  • Re-build a worn balance assembly on a radius double-hung: $240 to $420 per sash, including parts and labor.
  • Re-glaze a cracked half-round or quarter-round Therma-Tru unit: $350 to $800, with glass cut to the exact curve and set with proper compression spacing.
  • Full replacement of a custom geometric picture window (trapezoid, octagon, arch-top): $1,800 to $4,600 installed, depending on size, glass package, and whether the rough opening needs sill or framing repair before the new unit goes in.
  • Complete flashing and sill pan correction on an existing Therma-Tru install: $600 to $1,300 per window, which includes pulling the unit, treating any rotted wood, and re-setting the window to drain properly.

What moves the price: glass type, frame size, whether the unit is fixed or operable, and how much of the existing opening needs carpentry before the window goes back. We quote line items on paper before we start. No surprise charges on the back end. Call (754) 238-2201 for a free estimate on your specific window.

Why Miami Homeowners Call TruePane Windows & Doors for Therma-Tru Work

We have been serving South Florida communities since 2008. Dale Kessler founded TruePane in 2008, but the craft runs further back than that - his father re-glazed storefronts along the Tamiami Trail, and Dale grew up in Kendall when that stretch of Miami-Dade was still mostly nurseries and canal roads. He trained at Miami Dade College and has spent the better part of three decades measuring, sourcing, and setting windows in this climate. We are authorized installers for more than a dozen other lines - PGT, CGI, CWS, ES Windows among them - which matters when a Therma-Tru custom unit is beyond saving and you want side-by-side quotes on replacement options. Every job carries The Keystone Standard: both warranty layers registered in writing, durations stated, before we leave the driveway. A live person answers the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Not a voicemail tree, not a callback form. You call, someone picks up. That is the standard, and we stand behind it.

What Neighbors Say About TruePane Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"Whole-house window replacement at 71 years old is not something you want to do twice. Dale walked the house himself for the quote. Crew was the same three men all four days, and the foreman knew every window by room."

PPat and Ray L.
★★★★★

"Our bay window had rotted at the sill and two other outfits wanted to talk us into a flat picture window instead. TruePane rebuilt the opening and matched the original look. Neighbors have knocked on the door about it."

GGene A.
★★★★★

"French doors to the patio, custom size because this house was built in 1961 and nothing is standard. Measured twice, three weeks to fabricate like they warned, and the install day they laid runners over my floors without being asked."

MMarie S.
★★★★★

"A casement crank had stripped and the sash was swollen shut. The technician, Ray, fixed the crank on the spot and only then talked about replacement for the three windows that were genuinely done. That is why the whole street uses them now."

EEleanor G.
★★★★

"Had fog between the panes in four windows. They explained the seals had failed and argon was long gone, replaced the glass units instead of selling me whole windows. Honest outfit."

FFrank D.
★★★★★

"Impact windows on the whole house. They handled the permit, the inspection, and gave me a folder with every approval number for the insurance company. My windstorm premium dropped enough to notice."

BBill T.
★★★★

"Storm door and a new back entry door. Small job, but they treated it like one that mattered. Screws in the hinges are stainless, the sweep actually seals, and the invoice matched the phone quote to the dollar."

VVernon H.
★★★★★

"Eleven windows replaced in two days. The crew chief, Marcus, showed me the level on every single frame before they caulked it. My wife noticed the street noise was gone before I did."
